Our commitment
Soft Serv LLC is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We treat accessibility as a core part of how we design, build, and review our platform, and we are continually working to improve the experience for every user.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. We have adopted WCAG 2.0 Level AA as the standard for the Soft Serv platform.
Soft Serv is partially conformant with WCAG 2.0 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the platform do not yet fully meet the accessibility standard. We have completed an accessibility audit, we test against WCAG on every release, and we are actively remediating the remaining items with the goal of full Level AA conformance.
A detailed Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT®) for the platform is in preparation and available to institutions on request.
Measures we take to support accessibility
- We include accessibility as a requirement throughout our design and development process.
- We run automated accessibility tests (axe-core, checking WCAG 2.0 A and AA rules) on every change through our continuous-integration pipeline, so accessibility is checked before each release.
- We have completed an internal accessibility audit and maintain a prioritized remediation plan.
- We build with semantic HTML and WAI-ARIA, support keyboard operation, provide visible focus indicators, label form controls, and provide text alternatives for images.
- For recorded roleplay sessions, we provide a synchronized text transcript that can be read and navigated alongside the recording.
Technical specifications
Accessibility of Soft Serv relies on the following technologies to work with your web browser and any assistive technologies you use:
- HTML
- WAI-ARIA
- CSS
- JavaScript
These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the standard above.
Compatibility with browsers & assistive technology
Soft Serv is designed to work with current versions of major web browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari) together with common assistive technologies, including screen readers and keyboard-only navigation. The live roleplay feature requires access to a microphone and, optionally, a camera.
If you use a specific assistive technology and encounter difficulty, please let us know (see Feedback & contact) — we want to hear about it and help.
Known limitations & ongoing work
Despite our efforts, some parts of the platform have known limitations. We are actively working on the following, and we provide the alternatives noted:
- Live captions during a roleplay: real-time captions during the live AI conversation are in development. Recorded sessions include a synchronized text transcript you can read and navigate.
- Color contrast & control labels: we are updating some secondary text colors and a small number of interactive controls to fully meet contrast and labeling requirements.
- Some dialogs: a few legacy dialog windows are being updated to improve keyboard focus handling.
If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, please contact us. We will work to resolve it and, in the meantime, provide the information or function you need in an accessible alternative.
Assessment approach
Soft Serv assessed the accessibility of the platform by the following approaches:
- Self-evaluation — an internal accessibility audit of the application against WCAG 2.0 Level AA.
- Automated testing — continuous, automated accessibility testing (axe-core) integrated into our release pipeline.
Feedback & contact
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Soft Serv. If you encounter accessibility barriers, or need information or a function provided in a different way, please contact us — we aim to respond within 3 business days:
